Delivery Mode determines how to pace delivery of an Ad Set.
The default, Balanced delivery, strives for even delivery throughout the lifetime of an Ad Set. This means that we will attempt to deliver the same volume of clicks (when volume is defined in number of clicks) or the same volume of impressions (when volume is defined in number of impressions) every hour, every day.
Use Balanced delivery when you want to spread the volume evenly throughout the lifetime of your Ad Set.
In contrast, As soon as possible delivery will attempt to deliver your Ad Set as quickly as possible. This means that your Ad Set, theoretically, could deliver the entire volume of clicks or impressions in a single day even if the Ad Set period is much longer. Once the volume of desired clicks or impressions have been delivered, the Ad Set will stop even if the end date has not been reached.
Use As soon as possible delivery whenever you just want to reach your desired volume of clicks or impressions as quickly as possible.
