Exclude ads using third-party trackers

Strossle privacy-safe contextual advertising means that ad targeting is based on sites and articles rather than data about individuals. A consequence of our deep engagement in privacy-safe advertising is that we have managed to get rid of unique user identifiers such as unique browser/device IDs stored in cookies.

Advertisers of Strossle are able to use their own third-party click and impression trackers to track ad performance with third-party technology from e.g. Google and Adform.

We expect advertisers and third-party technologies to respect user privacy and never to store or access data on the users device unless the third-party has been granted an active and informed consent from the user to do so.

However, for publishers who do not wish to allow any third-party tracking technology, Strossle has introduced two settings for your publisher account:

  • Exclude third-party impression trackers. A third-party impression tracker counts impressions for an ad. It is possible for third-party impression trackers to read and set cookies. When this setting is activated, all ads containing third-party impression trackers will be removed from your widgets.
  • Exclude third-party click trackers. Third-party click trackers count number of clicks for an ad. When a user clicks on an ad, she is redirected through the click tracker to the landing page. As part of the redirect, third-party click trackers are able to read and set cookies. When this setting is activated, all ads containing third-party click trackers will be removed from your widgets.

To enable these settings and exclude third-party trackers, please reach out to your local Strossle Account Manager.
